Consumer Switch to: MP Scanner Driver Ver. It solved my issue It covered my problem, but the solution still didn't work for me The information on the page is hard to understand It has nothing to do with my issue. Thank you! If I manually slide the scanner to the right, the light goes on, but the scanner does not return to the home position.
I have only done this once as I don't want to misalign the scanner as one of the posts said could occur. Hi goodi, How did you open the scanner of MP when you fix the lamps. I have tried many time to see how to take off the cover of scanner. Please tell me how to open it. Thank you very much.

Make sure that USB cable forms a straight line between the printer and your PC not meandering around the table legs etc. If none works, I would think that there's a problem with the USB connector perhaps a broken pin.

I thought trying another USB was probably a long shot and didn't want to go all the way to the store, buy a cable, only to find it did not work. Do someone know how to disassembly? If your printer works but the scanner does not; - It's more likely a software problem rather than a hardware. Perhaps you have downloaded an update from Microsoft or so. Usually a complete removal and the reinstall of the drivers should work. If not perhaps you need to test it on an original Windows installation.
Posted on Aug 24, I had a very similar problem. My Pixma MX would print fine and even start scanning when used with MP Navigator but then would stop scanning with a communication error. In my case, the problem was fixed by exchanging the cheap USB cable I had used origninally with the USB cable that came with my old scanner. This cable has a ferrite around it close to the end that is connected to the scanner.
After changing the cable, everything worked seamlessly; I did not have to change any drivers or things like that. To me, it looks like my Pixma has a weak USB transmitter that does not leave a lot of margin for a bad transmission channel.
This problem shows up especially when it has to transmit many data, which only happens during a scan. In my opinion, Canon would do themselves a big favor with respect to user satisfaction if they either improved their USB transmitter of their device or included a decent USB cable with it that compensates for the weak transmitter. Posted on Aug 17, I didn't have a shorter USB cable handy, but for me, unplugging the cable from the back of the unit and plugging it in did the job. Sad that it took me over a year to find a solution to the problem, but thankfully I did. Thanks to all of the comments about the cables.
I Just solved this issue with the fix I found on another site: I'm using a MP and for me that folder is: I added: Posted on Sep 18, I tried everything and the reinstall, unplugging the scanner from the computer and turning it off did not fix the issue.
I thought trying another USB was probably a long shot and didn't want to go all the way to the store, buy a cable, only to find it did not work. I have a LaserJet printer right next to the Canon and took a long shot and just switched the USB cables between printers and the Canon MP scanner worked just fine, so it obviously must be something to do with the USB cable. Try a newer cable you have at home or buy a newer USB 2 cable as your first solution.
Posted on Sep 10, Had the same problem. I tried opening MP Navigator and then just opening it up on the PC then trigger the printer to kick into gear and scan I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher.
